The Glees have a long tradition of performance both in Guernsey and on the International stage, including diverse works from Handel, Bach, Purcell, Bizet and the much loved operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan.

 

In recent times, the choir has returned to its roots holding local concerts featuring new music, songs from the movies and much loved classics. 

 

Recently, under the baton of award winning composer and voice coach, Lydia Jane Pugh, the choir performed ‘Celebration of Song’, a commissioned piece written by Lydia for the Glees 90th celebrations.

 

Lydia has brought a fresh approach to the choir, introducing a number of more contemporary pieces into the repertoire, including works by Ruth Elaine Schram, Audrey Snyder, Irving Berlin, Burt Bacharach, Randy Newman, Leonard Cohen and Enya to name but a few.
